Thomas is a strategic communications consultant specializing in helping non-governmental organizations (NGOs) roll out narrative change strategies. After more than a decade working in public relations for business, government and global NGOs, Thomas discovered framing and changed his approach completely, creating Hope-Based Communications, which uses five simple shifts to focus on your messages, not those of your opponent. Until recently, Thomas was Head of Brand at Amnesty International, and he continues to search for new ways to talk about human rights as effectively as populists and businesses market their messages. He has a decade of experience of global communications from fighting corruption with Transparency International to writing speeches at the European Commission and media training spokespeople at the public relations firm HK Strategies. Thomas lives in Berlin but he is a “citizen of the world”: a French-Irish-British (multi-)national speaking six languages, he blogs about world literature and runs triathlons in his spare time.
